Apple released the update to iOS 11 , the new version of its operating system for iPhone and iPad with which to continue competing in the market of mobile devices and also face the new Android 8.0 Oreo, the new operating system of its rival, Google. This new version of iOS comes with a large number of changes, news and improvements, both in terms of functionality and internally. In addition, although Apple does not echo of it, also comes with important corrections that solve several vulnerabilities, as we will see next. So, upgrade to ios 11 to be safe from vulnerabilities.

Taking advantage of the release of the new version of iOS 11 , Apple has also released new versions for the rest of its other products, such as Xcode 9, tvOS 11, watchOS 4, Safari 11 and iTunes 12.7. These new versions, in addition to their new features, also come with a corresponding ration of security patches so that hackers can not take advantage of these bugs to endanger users.

At the moment, Apple has only made public the vulnerabilities of Xcode 9, Safari 11 and iOS 11. The operating system of the iPhone and iPad is the one that the greater variety of patches has received, 8 in total, which we are going to see next.

Upgrade to iOS 11 to be safe from vulnerabilities

The first security bug fixed by Apple in this update (CVE-2017-7088) is in the Exchange ActiveSync component , a bug that could allow an attacker to completely erase a device during the process of setting up an Exchange account .

The second of the security flaws was in iBook (CVE-2017-7072), and could allow an attacker to perform a DoS attack through a modified book for that task.

The third vulnerability is in  Mail MessageUI (CVE-2017-7097), and, similar to the previous one, could cause a DoS in any vulnerable device using simply a malicious image created for that purpose.

Fourth, the iOS Messages application  also has another bug (CVE-2017-7118) like the previous one that, from an image, can allow denial of DoS service on any vulnerable device.

The fifth of the vulnerabilities is found in the MobileBackup backup software(CVE-2017-7133) and could allow unencrypted backups even though it is requesting that the copy be encrypted, which could compromise data device.

The sixth and seventh vulnerabilities are in Safari and WebKit (CVE-2017-7085 and CVE-2017-7106), two bugs that could allow a malicious web page to take control of the address bar and make us think that we are visiting a web that we are not actually visiting.

Finally, the eighth of the security holes is also found in WebKit (CVE-2017-7089) and may allow a web to perform XSS attacks.

In addition to the new features included in this new version of iOS, which are not few, it is advisable to update our devices to this new version as soon as possible to prevent when the hackers start trying to exploit these vulnerabilities, now known, we can fall into their hands.
